Since starting my fitness journey, I have learned the value of one’s own health and wellness. During the past year, I have lost 35lbs and maintained it. Losing weight and improving my cardiovascular fitness has helped me in all aspects of my life. I work in a bakery where I am on my feet all day moving around. I could get through the day but would have no energy when I got out of work. I then had to study and do schoolwork when I got home which was very difficult, not only was my body very tired but I had no energy to be able to think clearly. If I didn’t have schoolwork, then I would stay home and not do anything. I didn’t want to go out with friends, be with family, or do any activities that I love. Since losing weight and improving my fitness, everything has been easier. I find myself with a lot more energy throughout the day, and I have been enjoying my free time doing the activities that I love. Improving my fitness has made me much happier and given me reduced stress with a better quality of life. I am grateful for Jiu-Jitsu, which was the first step in getting me to improve my health. Professor Nic and the community have always given me praise when I took steps to improve myself and kept me motivated to stay on the right track. They were always welcoming and encouraging, which was vital to me to keeping me engaged and motivated.
